Community Sponsorship Opportunities

 

Introduction:

 

For more than 40 years, the casts of Up with People have traveled the world visiting communities large and small to help make our world a little closer, more friendly and understanding of one another.  Our sponsors take center stage in Up with People’s impact in the communities we visit - from service projects highlighting the ways local nonprofit organizations are meeting community needs, to the culminating public Up with People performance.  Sponsoring Up with People is also a remarkable event marketing platform for our partners to achieve their marketing and communications objectives. 

Up with People’s stay in your community combines a number of unique activities with which our sponsors can positively impact the people who live and work there.  They include community service projects, the public performance of the Up with People Show and local host families.  Your company or organization’s sponsorship will be highlighted within all the activities while the cast is there, representing your tangible investment in the community, the opportunity to set yourself apart, while building employee pride and esprit de corps among your employees, their families and your stakeholders.

Community Service - Connecting the people with the needs of their community: In every city they visit, Up with People generates awareness and giving for local organizations by inspiring community members to become involved through service and support.  Up with People makes this happen by partnering with local charitable organizations in every city and committing to provide hundreds of volunteer hours of service to them.  Up with People strives to give special attention to local organizations because we believe that meaningful, lasting change happens when people become involved in nonprofit organizations that are uniquely situated to address local needs.   

 

As a sponsor, your company will work with Up with People to select the organization(s) that will become the partners and beneficiaries of UWP’s week in the community.  Your selection of these groups will have far greater implications than just the financial support you may annually provide.  With UWP as a catalyst, it is a way to put the spotlight on them, provide manpower from the cast, garner media and public attention, recruit future community volunteers and generate financial support from show revenues. 

 

The Up with People Show – Bringing the World Together: The Up with People Show
For 40 years, Up with People has been best known for utilizing its high energy musical performance as a medium to communicate a message of hope and goodwill across nations. Every show is specially customized through video, photographs and local “guest appearances” to highlight the service activities of the preceding week.  Local children and performing groups are also taught segments of the show and perform along with the cast. 


A community “expo” is held in the show venue lobby prior to and following the show with the sponsors, as well as local non-profits, providing booth space to share information about their organizations and how the community members can get involved. The international cast shares their talent, energy and cultures with the audience that leaves everyone on their feet.  The sponsors of Up with People designate the charitable organization(s) to receive the proceeds from the show gate.  Further, our sponsors will be recognized during the performance by the cast emcee and visually through the show projection system.  Our sponsors share in the audience ovation.

Host Families - Inviting the World Home:
Up with People is a global education program for young adults from around the world ages 18 to 29. A centerpiece of the 22-week program is the opportunity for UWP students to stay with local families in each community.  The sharing goes both ways…while families share their traditions and local attractions; the cast members share their experiences and cultures.  Your employees will have the first opportunity to host members of the cast and your company will be clearly acknowledged as having created the opportunity for this one-of-a-kind, cross-cultural exchange.

A Sponsorship Designed Around Your Objectives

Creating positive brand experiences is the cornerstone of your sponsorship of Up with People.  As a sponsor, your company will be recognized in all advertising, marketing, promotion and public relations initiatives. Additionally, you will receive complete category exclusivity for your industry and will be provided with numerous means in partnership with the event to create awareness and visibility, support your brand, increase sales and entertain clients.

We custom design our sponsorship proposals to specifically address your marketing and communications objectives.  Up with People’s sponsors are provided with an extensive list of benefits designed to serve as a platform to provide you with the greatest possible return on investment.  Other activation and promotional ideas can be developed as an overlay from these rights and benefits.  Sponsor benefits typically include:

  • Presentation rights for the public performance or community impact projects
  • Category exclusivity
  • Trademark inclusion in local show advertising and promotion

  • On-site branding, recognition and acknowledgement

  • Hospitality for customer relations and staff benefits

The average fee to bring a cast of Up with People to a community for a week, including four days of community service and impact projects concluding with a public show is $50,000.  Up with People has a variety of different funding models to make a visit possible in communities large and small.  The time in a city can be adjusted, as well as levels of sponsorship from exclusive presentation rights to shared recognition at lower levels.
